About the paper
Printed in Chicago since 2019.
Folio began with a used laptop and an unreasonable belief in print. Seven years later it is still a small paper making a large point: that culture is worth writing about slowly.
Editorial standards
Three rules we keep.
Say it plainly
No jargon, no manufactured urgency, no sentence that needs a second read. If a story can be told in 800 words, it is told in 800 words.
Correct it publicly
Errors are corrected in the next issue, in the same place we made them. We have printed more corrections than we would like and fewer than we deserve.
Name the source
Every claim carries a name or an attribution. Anonymous sourcing is the exception, and the exception is argued at the Monday meeting.

Pitch us, correct us, argue with us.
