The journey

Beyond the monuments lies the Sri Lanka that travellers rarely see. Six days based in a working village outside Kandy: transplanting rice with the farmers, grinding curry spices at dawn, cooking in clay pots over wood fire and joining the family for temple almsgiving. Not a performance — an invitation.

  • Plant or harvest rice in the paddy fields, season permitting
  • Clay-pot curry cooking class with the village grandmothers
